On 28th May, we invited our Members for this year’s Speed Networking Event at MeetDistrict Berchem. Speed networking involves bringing participants together to exchange information and develop connections in a short timeframe. As this format is specifically designed to increase the number of people that attendees speak with at an event, one is guaranteed to walk away with a larger network.
At MeetDistrict, we’re proud to carry serendipity as one of our core values. Our concept has been meticulously designed to bring together people from several backgrounds and industries on a daily basis, but from time to time we like to put in a little extra effort...
The MeetDistrict Community is bursting with interesting and bright profiles, but during the day we are often too busy to benefit from this eclectic pool of talent. During our Speed Networking Event, a limited number of Members got the chance to literally sit together and learn more about each other. And all this during the equally limited time frame of seven minutes!
Setting the scene: 14 Members originating from all various MeetDistrict locations hoping to expand their network (being: Demeester & Partners Consulting, Loop Earplugs, Benckmar, Daltix, house of projects, ClickCare, IBM, Vialto Partners, Aviareps, CBRE, Skaut, Cheops, and YouConnect). Once everyone received a hearty welcome and paired themselves up, the speed networking activity was officially declared open by a tap on the stopwatch. Ready, set, network! When the seven minutes were completed, Community Hosts Amélie and Axelle unrelentingly put the sessions to halt and invited the participants to move onto their next conversation partner.
Fun fact: as certain matches could do with a little push, conversation starters were provided to turn to when needed. Nothing like the question whether you’d prefer Madonna or Henry VIII in your team to get to know the person in front of you. However, this group of Members was so sociable that these conversation starters remained untouched for most of the evening. Proving once again the incredibly interesting combination of people making up our Community.
As the speed networking activity came to a conclusion, our Members were invited to come together and to talk everything over with a drink in hand. This time without the restriction of the seven minute limit and free to further dive into whichever conversations couldn’t be completed earlier.
At the end of the evening, next to walking home with new connections and a larger network, all participants received a full bag of goodies. Major thanks to our Members of Benckmar for gifting everyone an ecological Jordan Green Clean toothbrush and to our Members of Kraft Heinz for filling our bags with no less than four products from their ketchup and Frito range. We were treated by NONA Drinks as well, handing out recipe books for delicious non-alcoholic cocktails. Gimber surprised our Members with a refreshing can of their Ready.To.Drink product. To top it all of, everyone received a MeetDistrict branded note block, pen and mint box.
And that concludes our Speed Networking Event at MeetDistrict Berchem. Although we kept to strict time management, we hope you loved every minute of it! If you weren’t able to join us this time, we do hope you’ll be part of the next edition. Because at MeetDistrict, we can never get enough of connecting.
